Life Path number in numerology: what it is and how to calculate
The Life Path number is the single most important number in Pythagorean numerology. It describes your core nature and the main direction of your life, derived entirely from your birth date.
How to calculate it
- Add every digit of your full birth date.
- Reduce until you reach a single digit — unless you hit 11, 22, 33 (master numbers), which are kept.
Example, born 28 March 1993: 2+8+0+3+1+9+9+3 = 35 → 3+5 = 8. The Life Path is 8.
Let the numerology tool do it automatically (it also reads full names, Vietnamese accents included).
Meaning of Life Paths 1–9
- 1 — The Leader: independent, driven, a pioneer.
- 2 — The Diplomat: sensitive, cooperative, a peacemaker.
- 3 — The Communicator: creative, optimistic, expressive.
- 4 — The Builder: practical, disciplined, grounded.
- 5 — The Free Spirit: adaptable, adventurous, curious.
- 6 — The Nurturer: caring, responsible, devoted.
- 7 — The Seeker: analytical, introspective, spiritual.
- 8 — The Powerhouse: ambitious, capable, materially gifted.
- 9 — The Humanitarian: compassionate, idealistic, giving.
Master numbers 11, 22, 33
When a total reduces to 11, 22 or 33, it is not reduced further — higher potential and higher pressure: 11 (intuition, inspiration), 22 (building big dreams), 33 (the teacher, selfless love).
How is this different from the Personal Year?
The Life Path never changes. The Personal Year number shifts each calendar year, showing that year's dominant energy for you.
Numerology is for reflection and inspiration — not fate. Treat the number as a lens for understanding yourself.
