Taoism & Wu Wei: living in accord with nature
Taoism, from Laozi and the Tao Te Ching, deeply shaped East Asian culture.
The Tao
The Tao is the natural way of all things — "the Tao that can be named is not the eternal Tao." It does not force; it is yielding like water, soft yet overcoming the hard.
Wu Wei — not "doing nothing"
Wu Wei means non-forcing — acting in accord with nature and timing, without strain, like a farmer sowing in season.
A few principles
Contentment ("know enough"), softness over rigidity, and letting go of excess bring peace. This harmony with time and place echoes date and direction selection — see the lunar calendar and auspicious days. A cultural introduction, for reference.
